A computer monitor is a piece of computer hardware that shows the video and graphics made by the computer through the video card. A computer monitor is a lot like a television only with higher resolution in its picture quality. Computer monitors used to be made up of a CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) and a fluorescent screen. Now computer monitors are made from flat panel display technology. All monitors regardless of what kind they are all have an HDMI, DVI, or VGA port on a computer.[1][2]

Frequency

One of the things that shows how good the quality is of a monitor is frequency. The majority of monitors are multiscanning, meaning the monitors adjust to the frequency that is being sent to them. This allows the monitor to display images at different resolutions, based on the data that is sent to the monitor by the video adapter.

Screen Size

Screen size is an important attribute to a monitor. The size of the screen is measured in inches from diagonal corners like a television. A VGA monitor is usually 14 inches, some monitors are 16 inches or longer these monitors are known as full-page monitors. Monitors can also be displayed in either portrait or landscape height.
